What We Do

Get Involved

  • Mentor A Scholar

The mentor a scholar program takes place on the second Saturday of every month. This is a virtual event that allows volunteers to speak with children that UKF sponsors about topics such as leadership, teamwork, and peer pressure. At this lesson the students have an open discussion about the topic selected for the month as well as listen to the mentor's advice and direct experience. This session is held virtually via Zoom. Volunteers are more than welcome to participate in this program, and if you would like to join please click the button below.

  • Sponsor A Child

The UKF Sponsor A Child program (SAC) has provided countless children not only access to a quality education, but also aid to their families as well. The SAC programs goal is to alleviate the immediate stress of families by providing essential supplies like food and clothing while also creating a brighter future through education. ukf libraries

On January 11, 2011, UKF obtained approval from the Lagos State Government to operate free libraries in 3 schools within the State. We commenced operations in June 2011, and we have since added 7 more schools. We have noted a significant improvement in reading levels and more than 300% increase in student participation within 10 years of the commencement of library operations. UKF has been able to provide more than 50 children with scholarships to attend prestigious institutions like Day Waterman College, Master Sunday Akabasi in Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC), and the Tunwase school.

Mobile Library

Created in response to the COVID-19 induced lockdown in November of 2020, the UKF mobile library program serves almost 200 children aged 2-15 in two Lagos mainland communities:

  • Akiode, in the Ojodu Berger

  • AxisFagba, in the Iju Railway Area

We currently provide 200 children with literacy support and education through our programs. In addition to literacy support, United for Kids Foundation has also provided chairs, desks, shoes, backpacks, notebooks, and additional supplies to these amazing children who participate in our mobile library program.

Mummy and Me

Our Mummy and Me was established in Spring of 2021 with the help of five amazing donors. UKF in partnership with these donors created a program that was targeted to help mothers whose children are sponsored by UKF to achieve financial independence. This program works by providing women with the necessary business inventory to start their own microbusinesses. Since its start in the Spring of 2021, the Mummy and Me program has been able to start over 8 micro businesses for women involved in our organization.

Back to School

The United for Kids Foundation Back to School Program is an annual program that seeks to provide students across Nigeria with adequate school supplies to start the new school year. This year UKF was able to provide over 2,000 children with backpacks, notebooks, pencils, pens, and paper. Our Back to School Program is designed to alleviate the stress that is placed on parents to provide supplies necessary for their children to succeed in school. This program in 2016 alone was able to provide support for 50,000 children with sponsorship from Esso, Shell, NNPC and Onesubsea.

UKF Orphanage Visits

The founding of United for Kids Foundation took place as a result of a visit to an orphanage. Since our founding in 2002, we have continued these monthly visits to orphanages in Nigeria. During these visits, the children are given food, a fun activity to do, and gifts. These visits are scheduled for the third Saturday of every month. Volunteers are always welcome to go on these visits with us as well as send gifts through UKF. Due to Covid-19, United for Kids Foundation does not currently visit the orphanages, but we still provide aid to all of children. If you are interested in getting involved or would like to send gifts/donations, please contact us at info@u4kids.org.

UKF Hospital Visits

On the third Saturday of each month UKF visits the pediatric wing of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. The goal of each visit is to provide at least 120 children with aid. At these visits the children and their families are provided with a care package that includes groceries, soap, biscuits, and juice boxes for children 2 and younger; the care package includes diapers, wipes and baby soap. In addition to the care packages provided to the children, UKF also pays for the prescriptions of children whose families are not able to afford them. Volunteers are always welcome to go on these visits with us as well as send gifts through UKF. Due to Covid-19, United for Kids Foundation does not currently visit the orphanages, but we still provide aid to all of the children. If you are interested in getting involved or would like to send gifts/donations, please contact us at info@u4kids.org.
